Built in the 1800s the Mosta Rotunda remains one of the largest unsupported Catholic Church dome in the world.
Castaldi Lighting with the Altern Team was commissioned to design and build the internal lighting of the complete church, including the monumental dome which boasts a diameter of around 40m. Through photometric simulations and on-site testing, Castaldi Lighting and Altern implemented a range of light units across the building, achieving both functional and architectural lighting, with minimal visual intrusion. Additionally, a centrally managed lighting control system, ensures customisability and ongoing energy efficiency.
